i am a lactating woman . one month & 16 days passed before i delivered a baby . about 3 weeks before i noticed a lump in my right breast. doctor advised me to keep that breast in hot water 3 to 4 times a day .after 2 days she gave me cap. Augmentin Duo 1000mg, tab. Emanzen- D and tab. rantac 150mg. to take for 5 days. on 5th day they did a scanning and asked to continue the same medicine for 2 more days and asked me to stop feeding and to take tab. cabergolin 0.25mg for 2 days , 2 times. now both the breast have become hard. the doctor advised me not to express milk also. please advise me what to do.
Hello. Thank you for your query. Im a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist and i would answer you question. Breast lumps are often at breastfeeding mom's. If your lump is round and movable when you touch it that's not a bed sing. Lumps are often created in the breast on a lactating woman because a milk duck may be blocked or because of the galactocele. I would suggest you to take a warm shower and massage the breast and the lump. Then put your baby to nurse in a position when baby's chin should be pointed to your lump. In this way his strong sucking would empty the blocked duct and you should see improvement after 48-72 hours. When you finish nursing you could put some ice pack to your lump for 1-2 min. If you have a temperature higher than 38,4 Celsius you should contact your doctor because you may have mastitis.
