I am 26 years old, 5ft 2in and 110lbs. I have just noticed a small lump, about the size of a dime, just above my windpipe under my chin. It is slightly tender if I press on it. I have had nodules on my thyroid in the past and have had them biopsied - all results were negative for anything cancerous. This lump is a little higher than I remember them being in the past and also is directly in the middle of the underside of my chin. I have no other symptoms that I am aware of. What is your advice? Should I just monitor it for a while? This morning is the first time that I have ever noticed it.
a consultation with a physician, preferably a general surgeon, would be of help to you. you could ask for a neck ultrasound to check on that "lump" and your previous thyroid nodules.. biopsy and/or surgical management will be directed accordingly. but all those lesions need regular monitoring. you have to observe them, and know if they are increasing in number, size or if they have change in characteristics/ behavior.
