Suggest Remedy For Lumps

Errm, I m a 15 year old girl, and there s a a spot/ lump on my right but cheek, near where my bottom meets my thigh. The area around it is slightly red and swollen , and it hurts if I sit down. Is it an abcess? Do I need to see a doctor or will it go away of it s own accord?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Yes, most likely this is an abscess. Pain, redness and swelling are very characteristic symptoms of an abscess. Such abscess can be caused by some skin glands infection or sebaceus cyst infection.
The best treatment for this condition is incision and drainage of the pus. If its sebaceus cyst, should be completely removed.
I suggest you to consult general surgeon with this issue. In case of doubts, soft tissues ultrasound should be done.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
