Suggest Remedy For Minor Scratch Causing A Little Bleeding Due To Possible Ratbite

Hi, While I was sleeping at night I realised that something bit me on the finger of my leg. I was unable to see what it was. We have a problem of rats in our house. Now the bite was even less than a minor scrath as if pierced with a pin and only one drop of blood came out. Though I have cleaned the place and applied T bact ointment. Is there anything more that needs to be done ? I am not sure what bit me.. Saptarshi Sanyal

Hi,

You have shown caution correctly to the wound. Furthermore, if you haven't applied a 10-year tetanus booster then you need to do soon, a tetanus immunisation in emergency room. If any wound infection starts then you need immediately to take antibiotics to your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Julinda Maksuti, General Surgeon
