Suggest Remedy For Missed Periods For 8-9 Months

Got my period at age 15. Taking Lo Loestrin Fe for almost 2 yrs now (since age 18) and no period for 8-9 months (definately not pregnant). A dancer since age 3, on dance team since age 7 & a dance minor in college & do hula hoop too. I want to go to a reproductive endocrinologist to rule out a more serious problem. I know Lo Loestrin Fe can cause amenorrhea, but maybe because of so much sports I have a more serious problem. I don t want to lose the ability to get pregnant.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Menstrual irregularities can be seen with oral contraceptive pills during the initial couple of months which settle down later. Amenorrhea of longer duration should definitely investigated and please go ahead as planned. Excessive exercise can lead to hormone imbalances and therefore menstrual irregularities. If you are trying to conceive, you should make sure that you attain regular ovulation. You have to restrict exercise to a moderate form. Hope this helps.
