Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My right foot has been numb for a week now, first it was along the right side of the foot itself, the last three toes.. The numbness is starting to spread a bit farther along my foot on the bottom of the foot and it feels like its bit swollen as well, also have felt my lower back leg a bit week, kind of numb as well. could this be caused by having had severe lower back pain? I ve been told my lower discs are compressed, I ve had a couple therapy sessions but its the first time that my foot goes numb.

Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely from nerve compression syndrome due to intervertebral disc compression on lumbosacral area. Examination with an orthopedian followed by MRI will be needed to rule out the condition. For such condition I would recommend muscle relaxants like cyclobenzaprine,NSAIDs like nimusulide and neurotropic drugs. I also advise pyphysiotherapy like tens, traction and muscle strengthening exercises along with this. Wearing lumbar corsets will be helpful also. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
