Suggest Remedy For Open Sores That Are Itching

I had an operation on my arm and developed huge water blisters around the incision. My doctor cut open the blisters and now I have a terrible itch at the sites. The blistered area is now flat, open sores that look like a sunburn. How can I treat this for itch and to keep the area clean?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for posting in HCM.

I understand your concern.

Kindly wash the area with mild antiseptic solution like Savlon and apply cold compresses or ice pack.

You need to take anti-inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen.

For itchiness, take an antihistamine like Levocetrizine.

Apply calamine lotion on the lesion to reduce the swelling.

Avoid scratching the area. This will worsen itching and swelling, and increase the risk of infection.

Gradually, your symptoms should subside and you should be better.

Hope the information provided would be helpful.

All the best.
