Suggest Remedy For Pain And Swelling In Left Ear Lobe

Hi Doctor! I'm 18 & I got my ears re-pierced around the end of april. I've been caring for them however, my left ear lobe continues to be swollen and painful. The right ear is completely fine, but the left is swollen and it even bled the other day. What should I do? The earrings are still in.

Hi..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns. ..

As per your complain swelling and pain in the earlobe can be due to infection or can also be due to allergic reaction to the metal used in earring, in case if you are not wearing gold or plastic earrings..
The other metals are not inert in nature and can react with air and water and get decomposed..
The decomposition products can cause allergic reaction and infection of skin..
I would suggest you to gently remove the earrings and clean the area with betadine solution..
You can apply TRIPLE ANTIBIOTIC Ointment and steroid ointment like Cortisone over it..
In case of no improvement in a week consult a Physician and get evaluated..
