Suggest Remedy For Pain In Lower Jaw Post Wisdom Tooth Extraction

I had all of my wisdon teeth removed last July. Since then I have tmj and lots of off and on nerve pain in the lower left jar. Sometimes the pain is very bad and lots of tingling. Oral surgeon did a nerve test and stated that there was no nerve damage. Went to pcp and he suggested if my symptoms didnt get better that we could do a nerve conductor test. The pain, tingling etc is very off and on....not sure what the next step should be. thanks

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain the tingling and on and off pain after a wisdom tooth removal that has been removed months back clearly denotes that you have nerve injury as the Inferior Dental Nerve which is the nerve that supplies the lower jaw is located in close proximity with the root tips of lower wisdom tooth and can get injured while extraction..

Once the nerve is injured it can lead to transmission of irregular or inappropriate signals leading to pain and tingling..

A nerve conduction test will help to rule the nerve injury and treatment can be planned accordingly..

A reversible damage of the nerve can take from weeks or months to years to recover.. Consult a neurologist for a proper diagnosis and treatment..

Hope this information helps..
