Suggest Remedy For Pain In Neck And Lower Abdomen When Suffering From Food Poisoning
Hello, two days ago I had eaten some bad food and got food poisoning and went to the emergency room. I am still nauseous, which I assume is normal, but my main concern is when I breathe. I can take short shallow breaths, but can not breathe very deep due to a stabbing pain on the right side of my neck that radiates downward into my lower abdomen. Is it possible I strained muscles from vomiting so frequently and violently , dry heaving, and hyperventilating from the pain?
Yes, there is possibility that you strained the neck muscles resulting in nerve compression and pain. Pain neck may also occur due to undetected cervical spondylitis. You are suggested to get clinically examined get X-rays, MRI, CT done to detect signs of cervical spondylosis.
You may need to get blood tests, urinalysis, CBC, sputum or swab tests. In the meantime you can take pain relieving medicines like combiflam, one SOS when needed. You may need antibiotics. You can take antacids and PPIs for relief. Take plenty of water and take liquid or semi solid food for a day or two.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
