Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had 2 wisdom teeth removed on my left side (both fully erupted) 2 weeks ago and since then my jaw has been a little tender, not painful though. My throat hurts a little to swallow, only on the left side, almost like where my tongue rubs against my gums causing my throat to hurt if that makes sense. I noticed 2 days I have an enlarged (not huge) white-ish papillae on my tongue, could this all be related to my wisdom teeth removal? Nothing "hurts" just not 100% normal yet, still feeling like it's healing I guess. Not sure how long I should go before I need to call my dentist. Btw, I'm a 37 year old woman. Thank you
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain yes, all the symptoms are related to wisdom tooth extraction as wisdom tooth area is close to throat, emoval of wisdom tooth leads to inflammation in the extraction area that is common after any surgical procedure and it can also cause inflammation in throat which is causing soreness or some pain during swallowing..
Inflamed tongue papillae are also due to it..
Nothing to worry about it as gradually when the inflammation will subside the pain and soreness and also inflammation of the papillae will also resolve.. You should do warm saline gargles and also take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen for faster relief..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
