Suggest Remedy For Pain In Urethra When Suffering From UTI

My doctor told me yesterday that I did not have a UTI after having given her a sample to test. I have had UTI s over the past few years and know the symptoms. This time seems much more mild, but today I noticed a little blood when I went to the bathroom. The pain is very slight and it seems to only hurt in the urethra area (not so much the bladder). It s the typical burning tingling feeling when you finish emptying your bladder. Yesterday I had a thought, maybe a yeast infection is what I was dealing with. I have also had those before in the past. The discharge was a little thicker than normal (no odor) and it was a little bit itchy. However, mild symptoms across the board for both what I thought was a UTI or a possible Yeast Infection. Any thoughts on what could be going on down there?

Hi,

With the urine sample we can determine that this is not a UTI, but it does really sound like you have some urethritis (simply put inflammation of the urethra). Now a lot of things can do this, and it can be as simple as a yeast infection or even your urine being too acidic and causing some irritation of the urethra.

Usually, we recommend using over the counter Cystex or Azo, these are used for UTI discomfort, but the idea works the same and it will provide some anesthesia to the urethra. As far as potential causes, if you are noticing discharge then I would consider at least presumptively treating for a yeast infection, there is no harm in that, and it sounds like this has been caught really early. Consider the AZO or CYSTEX, that should at least give you some immediate relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
