Suggest Remedy For Pain While Swallowing

I think I have tonsillitis, it hurts when a swallow, and I had a fever and a headache when I woke up. I think it was from not washing my retainer properly, the night before. I hadn't worn my retainer for a month and when I put it on, I just rinsed it with water scrubber it with my toothbrush and popped it in. I'm going on a band trip in a little over two weeks, will it heal itself?

Hi...
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain difficulty in swallowing, fever and headache can be due to throat infection and it can be bacterial [strep throat] or viral in nature..
As it started after wearing your retainers after one month without disinfecting them or cleaning them properly it can be a probable cause of infection.
Nothing to worry, you can take a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin or Levofloxacin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles, gargle with a numbing mouthwash to relieve pain during swallowing and take plenty of warm fluids.
You can also take Acetaminophen for reducing fever..

Remove your retainers and clean them well using a denture cleaner solution or an antiseptic solution and wear it ..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
