Suggest Remedy For Painful Foot Swelling

My son trip down a few stairs at school a week ago, his foot hurt some, but then he was fine, playing basketball, baseball etc. Tonight after baseball practice he says it really hurts and it is hard to walk on. It is not bruised and really does not look swollen ???
