Suggest Remedy For Painful Hip Joints With Swelling

Yesterday I dropped a 15 lb object on my right toe from hip height. Today it is really swollen, hard, pins and needles when I stand, no bruising. I can bend it forward with very little pain and backwards with no pain. I am icing, keeping it elevated and have stayed off it today but need to go to work in 2 hours where I will be on my feet for 5 hours. What treatment do you recommend and should I tape it to my other toe? How long will it take to heal this?
