Suggest Remedy For Painful Knee Post Extensive Workouts

Hi I m a 51 year old male and I am very energetic. I do a lot of cycling and still play 5aside and 7aside football. 3 months ago I clashed my right knee and it got pushed right back with force, there was no bruising or swelling but recently whilst lifting a heavy object I felt my knee give way. This morning I can barely walk due to the pain at the back of the knee. Please advise what action I need to take. Regards Hardev

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the pain may be caused by sciatica possibly caused by the trauma you recently had on the back. Taking anti-inflammatory drugs such Advil or naproxen is advisable for pain. Use warm compresses on the back. Do stretching exercises to help relieve the pain.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
