Suggest Remedy For Painful Pimple On The Lips

I had a really painful pimple without a head on the skin above my top lip, and I popped it. It had healed nicely and scabbed over, but being as impatient as I am, I picked the scab off. Now I am afraid it's going to scar my skin. I put silver sulfadiazine on it, will that help prevent scarring? Are there other ways to prevent that?

Hello,
Thanks for the query,

The pimple you mention in query is probably a canker sore . It can occur due to allergy , irritation , minor injury of due to deficiency of vitamin B12 and folic acid .

Do not scratch the scab from the pimple.

You should apply clindamycin ointment .

Rinse it with warm salt water .

Start taking multivitamin supplement for few days .

Avoid acidic foods such as citrus fruits or spicy foods that may aggravate the sore.

If condition doesn't improve in 4-5 days then consult oral pathologist for proper diagnosis and rule out causes like herpes .

Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory drugs , antibiotics or steroid ointments .

Wishing you a good health.
Thank you
