Suggest Remedy For Persistent Cough

My brother is suffering from cough since last two years. He has been given the spray which reduces the cough for 5 minutes & again it starts. He is an engineering student studying in Chennai India & his treatment is happening in Apolo Main hospital Chennai. Please advice

Hello and thank you for your question. There are many causes for chronic cough. The first thing that needs to happen is for his doctors to determine the cause of his cough. If it is allergies and antihistamine may help. If it is reflux then an antacid may help. If it is smoking he must quit. If it is from a medication then the medication must be stopped or changed. Good luck and I hope he gets some relief soon.
