Suggest Remedy For Persistent Diarrhea

Had sex for the first time 6 days ago, tomorrow will be a week since. Didn t use a condom and I have had diarrhea for a few days, sometimes multiple times a day. We ate out afterwards and she told me she has been having diarrhea too for a few days. She got checked out a month before we had sex and was std free. My gentelia has no symptoms and looks and works perfectly fine, what should I do ? Should I be worried? I m not throwing up or anything and other than slight irritation in my lower intestine I feel fine.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The diarrhea in your case is seemingly related to gastrointestinal infection through some sort of bacteria or virus consumed during use of contamined food or beverages

* The unprotected sex with STD free partner, will not give a diarrhea condition (which is common with HIV, but in that too, you do not get diarrhea within 6 days of sex ).

MY guidelines at present

- drink more liquids including oral rehydration salt

- consume home made food only
- avoid all spices, junk food, dairy fat, non veg items
- addition of pre and post biotics help greatly by recovering intestine flora mechanics
- do not panic for infectious diseases
- discuss the need of any GI specific antibiotic as metronidazole or rifaximin with your doc during next visit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
