Suggest Remedy For Persistent Episodes Of Diarrhea With Post Nasal Drip

I have had chronic diarrhea x 7 months. ALL tests, scans, labs, stool 72 hr, lactose, you name it, I had it and ALL tests came back negative. BMs at least 10 x day. I do have post nasal drip. Could this cause diarrhea to be consistent for 7 months or more? How should I treat this to get rid of diarrhea? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

First of all, diarrhwa for 7 months is not normal and no post-nasal drip cannot be the cause. I would first recommend a colonoscopy to be conducted, may be even twice to help look for abnormalities within the colon (e.g. diverticulitis, irritable bowel syndrome, etc.). And then I would recommend you to visit a nutritionist to learn about the trigger foods and drink you should be avoiding. In my opinion the diarrhea continues to persist because you have done nothing to improve your dietary intake (need to avoid all trigger foods and drink).

Best wishes.
