Suggest Remedy For Poor Pulse In Foot

I had a deep cut to my leg about a week ago, I had to receive 4 internal & 11 external stitches, no muscle damage that we know of. When I went for my check up today my doctor said I had a poor pulse in my foot and wants me to be seen by a surgeon. Why?
