Suggest Remedy For Recurring Swelling And Pain In Left Ankle

Hello my left ankle has been swelling up for about 2 weeks now. It hurts when I walk for over 30 minutes and it seems to swell upon standing etc... at night or during the day if it gets too big and painful I elevate it along with ice and in the morning the swelling has gone down.

HI
Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.

There are many causes of swelling of ankles , but swelling of ankles with pain indicates either Arthritis of Ankle Joints or a condition called Varicose veins.

Varicose veins is a condition where due to abnormal veins the blood in legs is not pumped back to heart and thus blood gets stagnated and causes pain and swelling of legs. The very fact that swelling comes down once you elevate the legs is one of the classical findings in Varicose veins.

My advise to you is to get Venous Doppler scan done which will confirm the diagnosis and severity of varicose veins. Kindly revert back with scan report.

Till then you can apply Crepe bandage from your toes till knee , from morning till night.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards.
