Suggest Remedy For Red, Blistered And Swollen Toenail Due To Infection
Hi. My daughter has toenails that grow into her skin which are painful and we are constantly battling keeping it trimmed enough so it doesn't bother her... This time she developed an infection... Her toe became red, blistered and swollen... She was given cephalexin and it is still red and she almost has completed her antibiotic. I'm really afraid it will stay discolored. Please...do u know if this will go away?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain ingrown toenails can often cause pain and inflammation of the soft tissue leading to redness and pain.. Many a times the area of soft tissues at the corner of the nail gets infected leading to blisters and swelling.. You should consult a general surgeon and get evaluated and he can cut the ingrown portion of the nail under local anaesthesia and advise you oral intake of antibiotics and painkillers.. Topical application of antibiotics and steroids will also help.. In case of recurring episodes of same problem removal of a portion of nail and soft tissue can help in preventing regrowing of the nail in the soft tissue and prevent the problem..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
