Suggest Remedy For Red, Inflammed Patch On Back Due To Eczema

Hi I have eczema and I ve been having trouble this summer with the heat. My skin is calming down now and I noticed that there is one patch on my back that isn t going away. It is fairly red and seems inflamed. its like if i had a big reaction and had welts but its not itchy or painful. I do have some emergency steroids from my doctor called Prednisone that I just started taking. I m wondering if its coming from two months of bad eczema or if it s something else.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red, inflamed patch on back due to eczema. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons , but in your case it occur due to overactive response by the body's immune system to an irritant. I would suggest you to clean your skin by washing with cold water and mild soap , stay in moist environment , avoid sun exposure and take anti histamine twice a day . Do not scratch your skin as it can lead to secondary infection , rather apply cold compresses to skin to reduce irritation . If condition doesn't subside then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Patient generally treated with oral medications (immunosuppressants ) , antibiotics for secondary infection , steroid creams and light therapy . Also discuss about drug interaction with your doctor .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
