Suggest Remedy For Redness In The Knee And Burning Sensation

On May 6th I had a partial knee replacement and after the surgery I was given an injection to block the pain. Or I believe a nerve block injection. Since then I have fallen or almost fallen four times because my leg gives out and I loose control of it. I also experience redness in the knee area even though the scar healed property and a burning painful sensation. Is this due to the nerve block injection and what can I do to get better...I have been going to therapy for the knee and gone back several times to the surgeon due to the loss of control. I have good movement after the surgery and therapist cannot understand why it so swollen What can I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to dermatitis.

For that you can apply hydrocortisone ointment locally. Alternatively you can apply aloe Vera gel.

For burning sensation, you may require further assessment MRI back, nerve conduction studies, blood investigation including vitamin B12 after consultation.

Take balanced diet. Do regular physical therapy

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
