Suggest Remedy For Scanty Menstruation And Elevated Prolactin Levels
Hello, my name is Yvonne , i am 31 years . I have a question i would like to ask and i would really appreciate it if i could get a response. I recently did a woman s hormone test, every other test was fine but my prolactin levels are 66ng/ml. I have also been experiencing scanty to absent period for some months now. I was placed on bromocriptine 2.5 mg twice a day for a month to so see if my levels go down. Should i be worried?. I have noticed visual changes as well. please help
Elevated prolactin levels evident in your blood test is probably the cause of scanty menstruation. The root cause of elevated prolactin level such as prolactinomas (tumor of the pituitary gland) should be identified and treated. Bromocriptine should be continued in order to reduce the prolactin levels.CT or MRI brain should be done to rule out any tumors.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
