Suggest Remedy For Scarring And Blister At Injury Area

Over the summer I fell off my bike and cut my knee. It then scarred, but now I have a blister (looks kind of red and purple) right where the scar was. When it drains there is this clear liquid and whenever my blister is touched i feel a sharp pain. What should I do?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

The area definitely seems infected.
If I was the treating doctor I would suggest you a course of an oral antibiotic for a week.
My choice of oral antibiotic would be either amoxycillin or cephalexin for a week. I suggest that you to talk to your doctor for the needful.
Besides oral antibiotics you may also use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment, twice daily for a week.
An OTC painkiller e,g ibuprofen twice daily would provide you symptomatic relief from pain.

Regards
