Suggest Remedy For Severe Back Pain During Pregnancy

I m 35 weeks pregnant and having extreme back pain nothing is helping and I use to smoke weed and it would make my pains ease off enough to sleep. Would I be safe to just smoke a little bit and have everything cleaned out of my system before my next appointment on the 26th?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Weed contains the chemical tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Smoking weed is contraindicated in pregnancy. It can cross the placental barrier and affects the fetal brain. It may cause preterm or premature delivery. At the extreme, it may cause stillbirth too. Even some studies it was found that there are developmental issues in babies. Analgesics may help with your back pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
