Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have normally heavy periods every month. Today is my 3rd day of my period and it wasn t really bad all day. I work 2 jobs, so before I left for my second job, I changed my super tampon and pad. 2 hours later I managed to bleed through both and had a clot the size of a golf ball. Changed out of my tampon and pad into new ones and had to change them again 45 minutes later and had another large clot. I never bleed through a tampon and pad that fast or have clots that large; mine are usually no bigger than a quarter. Is it possible there s something wrong?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Your symptoms suggest possibility of dysfunctional uterine haemorrhage / endometriosis or fibroid of uterus to be the cause. At the same time malignancies of genital organs needs to be excluded. At present you need control of bleeding. For that take over the counter hemostatic medicine like CVP gynic. Take rest. Consult a gynecologist if the bleeding does not stop / even after stoppage of bleeding for further evaluation of your health-needful investigations followed by side specific medication.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
