Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband just had a stent removed today after having a kidney stone removed two days ago. he is in severe pain right now. he has taken two percosets about an hour ago, has his feet elevated but has no relief, he is ready to go to the emergency room again. is there anything we can do?
* As per my clinical experience, the severe pain post stent removal indicates possible blockage at ureter site.
* The DJ stent is usual procedure to follow surgery of renal or uteteric calculus surgery.
* The removal of stent within 2 days of surgery may be itself problematic as
- chances of stone gravels or pieces retaining in the urinary flow system
- clot retention in ureter or calyces of the kidney
- straining during urination due to pain from edema of internal system.
* In my clinic, after thorough clinical examination, I do recommend an urgent evaluation with ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis for best reason finding and cure accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
