i had a small pimple on my cheek and I put an alba branded 2% salicylic acid gel on it and some of the skin around it accidentally. I also had some other acne treatment that had benzoyl peroxide in it and applied it to the same area. Then I got frustrated and kept applying things such as witch hazel and apple cider vinegar hoping that it would help. The skin around the pimple turned red and then purple and now it looks like a burn scab from all of the products I put onto that part of my skin. Now I have a piece of aloe vera on it to help it heal. What else should I do to help it heal quicker or make the scab fall off quicker?thank you
Hi. As per your case history of pimples, my treatment advice is - 1. Don't apply any cosmetic or do any home remedies as it may worsen the condition. 2. Don't squeeze the lesions and avoid applying soap to that region. 3. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 4. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for faster results. Other treatment options are oral doxycyline, isotretinoin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
