You have been having difficulty sleeping. To best change your sleep patterns I recommend that following suggestions.
1. use the bedroom for sleep only
2. When going to bed try
meditation or relaxation exercises before sleep
3. Read until you feel sleepy then closed the book and turn off the lights
4. If you are still not able to sleep then get up and read again or do something else that will make you sleepy
5. Do not exercise prior to sleep
6. Do not drink caffeinated beverages before sleep
7. Do not play video games or watch TV that maybe over stimulating
8. Do not try to sleep late in the day or take naps
If these measures don't help you may need to see a sleep specialist. There are new medications on the market to help sleep.
