Hi doctor, I have a sore throat and pain when swallowing. I tested negative for strep but i ve been on antibiotics for 5 days now and still a sore throat. I have a cough when i wake up and go to bed. In the very back of my throat I see some dark purple veins. Please help.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain sore thorat along with coughing at night and morning can be due to either infection in throat caused by bacteria or virus while it can also be due to acid reflux.. You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis.. In case if there in infection antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers, warm saline gargles and throat lozenges can help.. In case of acid reflux proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole, antacids like milk of magnesia and avoiding spicy and acidic food can help.. Sleeping with head slightly raised and doing moderate workout will further relieve..
Hope this information helps.
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora
