Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain as your husband is already diagnosed with
acid reflux the cause of soreness in his mouth is due to to injury caused by the stomach acid causing inflammation of tongue mucosa and inflammation..
Nothing to worry as the symptoms will improve with medication..
For acid reflux
Proton Pump Inhibitors like
Pantoprazole ,
Rabeprazole or Omeprazole shuld be taken twice a day..
Antacids like
Milk of magnesia is advised to be taken half an hour before meals..
Drink plenty of water preferably cool..
Take small meals every 2 to 3 hours.
Avoid spicy,acidic and large,heavy meals.
Eat your dinner 2 hours before sleeping.
Take a short walk after meals.
If you are overweight try loosing weight.
While sleeping keep your head slightly raised as compared to feet and sleep in left lateral position if you wish to sleep laterally as both these positions will prevent reflux of acid..
For soreness in tongue you can gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine especially before meals to prevent discomfort..
Suck ice pops and do cold water gargles for relief..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
