Suggest Remedy For Spasms In Rectum And Buttocks Post Pap Smear

63 year old healthy female, 130 lbs, after vaginal and rectal exam (annual pap smear), same night developed rectal pain and now have charlie horse like symptoms from right buttock down to knee. This is the second day and I tried eating a banana with water. Can you please tell me what might be causing this and what can be done to relieve the severe spasms? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be reated to muscle spasms due to the manipulation.
I suggest using a muscel relaxant such as Baclofen three times a day.
I also suggest using a magnesium supplement for muscle relaxation.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
