I can understand ur concerns.
Do not remove any part of nail.
For mild infection soak in water 2,3times to reduce swelling and redness. Then apply antibiotic ointment and bandage. Bandage will stop spreading it to other nails.
If u have got pus filled abscess on sides or base of the nail, or this problem is going chronic, or u r a diabetic, go straight to a doctor.
Dr. May sample the abscess/pus and recommend antibiotics or antifungals accordingly.
Pus pocket may be drained by dr.

Have a nice time. Give feedback so that I may assist u better next time.
Regards!
