Suggest Remedy For Swelling In Knee Caused By Falling

i fell hard on my knee. It swelled up and I put ice packs on it and rested. Next it was a better so I went to work and walked around, etc. Mid day I looked at it and the swelling spread to my shin. There is no pain. What should I do next. I am not elevating it and doing more ice packs.
