Suggest Remedy For Swelling In The Joints Especially Around Ankles

hello, my name is roxy I am a 29 year old Native American Female. Over the past 5 years I have been having painful joint swelling especially around my ankles and my knees and ankles frequently are swollen for no apparent reason. I have been getting upper respiratory infections almost every 2 months for the past 2 years. I have also been experiencing unexplained large bruises that are mostly on my thighs and my arms. I am experiencing chronic fatigue as well for the last year. I keep getting my blood tested for various things such for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Anemia as well as for SLE and all results come back negative with the exception that every other time I have my blood tested either my WBC s are elevated and my RBC s are low OR my WBC s are low and my RBC s are low. I have not seen any specialists as of yet because my PCP wants to keep on having my blood tested. Can you please help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since your ankles and knees are getting swollen, you are suggested to cut on the salt intake. You have not mentioned what medications you have been taking but certain medications cause water retention, avoid taking them. Cut on alcohol, junk food, oily spicy food. Take home made food and fresh veggies and fruits. If obese do stretch exercises, regular walking. Take food rich in protein, iron, calcium or supplements. Fatigue is a sign of poor nutrition and lack of energy. Take adequate sleep. Avoid stress and anxiety. You are suggested to get clinically assessed by a GP. Get blood & imaging tests done. Get any pathology detected treated at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
