Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About a week ago, I jumped up to reach something that was quite high and came down very hard on my right foot. I didn't think anything of it until last Friday when I noticed that my right ankle is swollen, but I have no pain. The swelling is soft to the touch and appears to be "mushy".
When I wake up in the morning, the swelling seems to be less than at the end of the day. I have applied ice and elevated the foot but this does not seem to be reducing the swelling. I have made an appointment with my podiatrist, but do you think I need to see an orthopedic doctor? I am 63 years old and in very good health. I am 5' and weigh 119 lbs. Thank you in advance for any help that you can give me.
