Suggest Remedy For Swelling Of The Throat And Tongue

I have swelling on right side of my throat right below the jaw bone, I can see swelling under my tongue as well on the right side. This has been for last 2 days and I have taken a ciproflaxacin500mg, paracetamol and an erythromycin 250mg dose over these 2 days. I'm doing salt water gargle as well, still I have severe pain while swallowing. Now I can see some pus discharge from the swollen nerve like portion under my tongue. I'm a female, non-alcoholic and a non-smoker, only thing I remember I had prior to this problem is a cold glass of water with ice cubes in a restaurant. I have got a doctor appointment for tomorrow, meanwhile could you pls tell me what could this be due to?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms seems like infection in the submandibular salivary gland , although swelling and pain in the gland can be due to blockage of the duct of the gland due to formation of crystalline stones in the duct of gland from to minerals present in the saliva but pus discharge can occur in case of infection..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and cross sectional x-ray of the salivary gland or MRI of the gland can help in confirming the diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case if there is infection antibiotics like Augmentin and painkillers like Ibuprofen can help..
Do cool compresses over the swelling..
In case if there is stone in the duct of the gland removal of the duct either manually or surgically can help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
