Suggest Remedy For Swelling On Finger Tip After Injury

I cut my index finger to the bone, severing both tendons. I have severe swelling at the tip. The accident occurred February 12. The tip is really tight. Seems to have good circulation although it does get cold at times. Swelling is constant the last two weeks. OT is not concerned and I have follow up with surgeon on Thursday. Should I be concerned? Should I try to get in to see dr sooner?

Hi! I'm Dr. Neel Kudchadkar and I'll help you. Kindly answer some questions. Is there any redness? Any swelling? Any pus? Have you taken a tetanus vaccine injection in the last 10 days? Was the cut exposed to dirt, mud or animal saliva. Right now you should be concerned only about 1) Answering these questions and using a local antibacterial cream like Mupirocin that is available without prescription. Take a tetanus injection if you have not taken it. Cover the wound later with a medicated dressing. If the wound turns dark, or if you have no sensation, I would kindly request you to send me photographs of your wound taken using a simple camera, perhaps a mobile or cellphone camera even. Meanwhile to keep you safe, kindly take Amoxycillin with Clavulanic Acid tablets and Lactobacillus tablets. Take each Amoxycillin + Clavulanic acid tablet 12 hours apart, and take 1 Lactobacillus tablet each night to prevent diarrhea which is the side effect of these antibiotics. If you have any problems contact me immediately at this internet link http://www.bit.ly/askdrneel and send a email to customercare@healthcaremagic.com with the subject: Attention: Dr. Neel Kudchadkar. I would recommend that you immediately take these medicines and visit a local doctor for suturing (stitching) the wound. All the best, Dr. Neel Kudchadkar (Medical consultant) www.healthcaremagic.com
