Suggest Remedy For Swelling On Leg After A Fall

Last night, I was fixing my shoe on stairs leading into my home, my other foot slipped and all of my weight landed directly on my tibia on the corner of the stairs, some skin was scraped off, and very light bleeding occurred, but i felt my leg right after and it had a pretty severe dent, a couple of hours later, it had major swelling and it is now the next night and the swelling hasn t gone down, could this be something severe? Or just a bad bruise?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
It seems you have blunt trauma to your leg with hematoma formation and bruise. I would advise Xray of involved leg anteroposterior and lateral views to rule out fracture. If it's normal start tab diclofenac plus serratiopeptodase combination twice a day for pain relief with tab augmentin 625 mg thrice a day to prevent infection. Apply ice packs on swelling to reduce oedema. Apply neosporin ointment on bruise. Keep limb elevated on two pillows. If Xray shows fracture you need to consult expert orthopaedic surgeon with report. All the best.
