I was just diagnosed with MS in November and starting just a month after that, my left eye swells, turns red and hurts...every 3 weeks. It lasts for 5 days with the 2nd day being the worst. I did have lasik eye surgery in June which the eye doc says this has nothing to do with that surgery. But when he did look at it during one of the attacks , he said that it had nothing to do with MS, either, and was just a tear in tissue. He gave me some milky-yellow eye drops to use. It has happened 3 times since that appt and his eye drops don t do a thing. I get more results from red eye allergy drops than anything else...lessens the red but doesn t do anything for the swelling or pain. So I guess I m asking...how do I deal with the shooting pain coming from the eye when it happens during these attacks? Short of knocking myself out with hydrocodene, I can t seem to get any relief from over the counter pain relievers. And I haven t started any MS meds either. I m still in denial that I even have MS but I don t know how to explain the recurring eye thing either. Bit of history...what led to the MRI resulting in the MS diagnosis was optic neuritis 9 years ago and double vision twice last year.
