Suggest Remedy For Swollen And Painful Ankle While Having Osteoporosis
I have osteoporosis and did not remember when I injured my ankle, I started a new job ,which is shift work and have to adjust to different chairs on each shift, it is just the left ankle that is hurting but not swollen, have been rubbing it with Icy Hot medicated rub, with no relief of the pain, did the ice pack one night ! what else should I do?
Hello and welcome to HCM, With a history of osteoporosis and appearance of pain in ankle, a possibility of fracture has to be kept. Thus, I suggest you to consult an orthopediacian for clinical assessment and X-ray of ankle joint. Since, osteoporotic bones are more prone to fractures on slight trauma. At the same time, treatment for osteoporosis has to be carried out. Bisphosphonates are helpful in osteoporosis.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
