Suggest Remedy For Swollen Fingers

I jammed my finger about 3 weeks ago and it is still swollen. I did not ice it or tape it because i didn't feel it was a big deal. Now I am realizing that I should have done those things. Should I go to the doctor or just start taping and icing my finger.
