Suggest Remedy For Swollen Joints And Fingers

I am having difficulty with my right thumb for the past 8 weeks. There is swelling in the joint and I have difficulty bending it. It seems to pop out of place when I do bend it, which is very annoying. I am unaware of an injury to it. Not sure if I should see a doctor and if so what kind. Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Yes, do visit a doctor and inform him/her, although this is nothing serious we should rule out a few conditions like arthritis, before jumping on to simple conditions like tendonitis, trigger finger, etc. A physical examination and xray of the region can provide a lot of hints towards diagnosis and treatment.

Best wishes.
