Suggest Remedy For Tender Spot And Pain In Kneecap Radiating To Leg

I woke up with pain on the top of my right knee cap. There is a very tender spot about the size of a nickel on the center and a little to the right. Pain radiates back up the leg about 6 inches or so. It s most painful when I try to lift my leg. Flexing is also very painful!!! It s been been for days. I ve been using packs. Which helps some. Any help would be appreciated. I m 82 years old and never had any thing like this before. Thank you for your help!!!!

Hi there.

There could be rupture of the patellar or Quadriceps tendon especially if it is difficult to straighten your knee. Apply ice, keep the limb elevated, apply knee brace and consult your Orthopaedic surgeon.
