Suggest Remedy For Vaginal Itching And Bleeding Post Treatment For Chest Infection
Hi there. I have been taking Amoxicillin for a week (today being the last day) for a chest infection. Today I have noticed an itching of my vagina and a bit of bleeding. Although my cycle is irregular, I would expect it anytime now. I have never had thrush or anything like that before but am guessing that is most likely what it is based on what I have read of Amoxi side effects. My question is would it be necessary to see my GP since I have finished the cycle of meds or could I just have a go at treating it myself with yoghurt and over the counter treatments? Thanks

Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to yeast infection. This can be an after effect of Amoxycillin therapy. Using Clotrimazole cream ( Monistat ) for local application will be helpful for this. This is available as over the counter also. Avoid soaps and irritants to wash the area and instead you can use saline or warm water. Using intimate wash daily is good to normalize vaginal bacterial flora and PH also. If there is no improvement then consult your GP. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
