My son was hit during football practice on the back of his hand with a face mask of another player. He says that he could see the blood moving out away from the vein on the back of his hand. This vein is now (2 hours later) 1/2 inch wide, and 1/3 inch high and it looks rough like, bubbly. I am an OT and it turned my stomach and few things do. What should we do???
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your son requires a proper care to recover early. • Keep the part clean with antiseptic liquid • Local application of the ointment like Framycetin or Betadine helps with dressing support • Injection tetanus toxoid is mandatory to be taken
In our clinic, according to wound assessment we recommend certain antibiotics, Tylenol according to weight basis for pain relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
