Suggest Remedy To Manage After Hernia Surgeries And Breast Cancer
2 years ago I had breast cancer from the nipple back. I was advised by the doctors that a flaptram would be the best avenue to pursue. However they neglected to inform me that I could have long term weight limit. Consequently, I had to quit my current job in long term care and had 2 hernia mesh surgeries and will soon be having another hernia mesh surgery only a year and 6 months from the previous one. All of these surgeries are in the right groin area. Currently, I took on a job requiring less weight lifting, as well as less pay. These surgeries are taking a toll on our finances as well as job stability. I have a college degree and a good resume however at 56 along with this physical issue jobs are becoming more difficult to acquire. By the third surgery, I switched doctors hoping for a better outcome.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Hernias can progress even weight lifting is continued. Weight lifting is contraindicated in hernias because it can lead to progression and worsening of the hernias. Thus, I am afraid you will have to quit jobs which require weight lifting and look for job which does not require heavy weight lifting. Continuation of weight lifting will land you with complications like progression of hernias and worsening of situation.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
